Things to do in Oahu, Hawaii

Hawaii is my favorite place I have ever visited and I am sure that after your visit you will be saying the same thing! The slow pace of life, beautiful scenery and endless adventures are just a few reasons why you will want to go back to Hawaii as soon as you go home. Today I am going to be talking about our trip to Hawaii and some of our favorite spots while we were there. We were only there three full days and we actually fit an insane amount in during our brief visit.

Cliff Jumping at Waimea Bay

Waimea Bay is located on the North Shore. This was our favorite beach we visited on our entire trip. I definitely recommend going here in the summer, the waves were calm, the water was a gorgeous blue and it has the best spot to cliff jump. We ended up coming back to this beach three or four times because it was so amazing! The jump is about 25 feet high and is such a fun activity for anyone with an adventurous spirit!

Honolulu Zoo

This is something that we were not expecting in Hawaii. The Honolulu Zoo is a short walk away from Waikiki Beach and is a fun outing for the entire family! Tickets are extremely inexpensive and they have a ton of animals. If you are looking for a relatively reasonably priced outing, the Honolulu Zoo is the way to go.

Swimming with Sharks

This is the opportunity of a lifetime! One Ocean Diving is located on the North Shore of Oahu and is a company that takes you out about 30 miles off the shore to see these amazing and majestic creatures. We are taught that they are horrible and vicious our whole lives. The main thing that I learned is that everything we are taught is wrong, these creatures do not wish to harm us but under the right circumstances anything that is starving would mistake things out of their natural diet for a meal. One Ocean Diving has certified divers that go out every single day and study these sharks behavior and educate you while aboard the boat. I was honestly terrified the whole boat ride, but after hearing all of the information and getting in the water it was a very peaceful and calming experience.

While we were there we were lucky enough to see the tiger sharks! The biggest one we saw is Roxy who is pictured on the right. She is 14 feet, which was crazy to see in the water. There were a ton of nurse sharks and Galapagos sharks that were under the tiger sharks but since the tiger sharks are higher in the hierarchy all of the smaller ones were under them and out of sight. This is definitely something we will do again next time we go to Oahu and I 10/10 recommend doing it and getting over the fear.

Here is the link to the tickets, they are $150 which was the best $150 we have ever spent.

Lost Beaches

Calling all lovers of the Lost TV show! Oahu was the main filming location for the this show, which happens to be our favorite show. The filming locations can be found on google and finding them was another one of our fun adventures of the trip. This beach below is Mokule’ia Beach on the North shore and was the main filming location for the survivors in Season 1 of the show.

Surfing Waikiki

Surfing in Waikiki is a must do while you are on the island. The water is beautiful and the waves are the perfect long boarding waves. We live in Southern California so these waves were a nice change and I loved that we could see through the water and see what was under us. While we were surfing we went right over a sea turtle which made the experience even more memorable.

The Proposal!

This trip was the best trip I have ever been on because WE GOT ENGAGED! My fiancé took me to the most amazing beach where lost was filmed and also where there is the best sunset on the island. Everything was truly perfect and I have never been more happy in my life. I am so excited for what is to come and I can’t wait for all of our many more adventures. Mākua Beach is beautiful and I definitely recommend visiting it at sunset.
